You need to make best use of the available space to ensure that you rent the correctly sized unit for your requirements. With ceilings over 12 ft high the Chambers units provide great value for money space.
Our friendly staff will be on hand to advise you on how to stack your goods and possessions and we have a wide range of packaging materials and boxes available at competitive prices for all your packing needs.
The following information and tips will help you get maximum use of the available space:
When reserving a unit please tell us some information about the items to be stored so that we will be able to give best advice on the correct sized unit for your needs, make sure you’re not storing items unfit for self storage and provide any additional relevant storage tips.
Decide if you want to have regular access to any of your goods. If so, these should be the last items you put into storage.
Alternatively, you may want to create a walkway through the unit to access all your possessions more easily.
Unload your goods in the loading bay and use the available trolleys to transport your goods to your unit. Please be careful not to overload the trolley and stack safely!
Identify your heaviest or fullest boxes and put these with your bulky items in first to create a solid base to stack other possessions on.
Place wardrobes etc in first and place small boxes/or small items inside them to use your storage space effectively.
Clearly identify fragile goods, make sure the labels can be easily seen and store these into the unit carefully.
Label all boxes and make sure you store them so that you can see the labels in case you need access to the contents whilst they are in storage.
Our high-ceilinged units will enable you to stand sofas and mattresses on their ends and stacking chairs pad-to-pad will help you to minimise the amount of space you need.
Stack your boxes from the back of the unit (heaviest boxes on the floor first) and fill your space methodically towards the front – don’t forget to use single items for filling gaps as you go.
Take care to safely pack sharp edges or garden tools to avoid accidents. Outside equipment should be cleaned before storage and lawnmower blades or cutting tools should be lightly oiled.
Kitchen utensils and pots and pans should be clean before storing.
Secure your unit with a padlock – we have a selection available for you to buy if you wish.
