What is self storage?


Self Storage is a relatively new service industry in the UK. You bring your goods or possessions to the storage centre, lock them in a unit and come and go as you please during opening hours. You are the only key holder for the unit and you can store almost anything unless it is alive or perishable.


Our centre is a purpose built self storage centre and offers a wide range of different sized units for short or long term hire. Most of the units have ceilings over 12 ft high, easy access corridors and provide affordable solutions for home and business storage needs.

How does self storage work?


You can store your goods from a  minimum of two weeks or for as long as you need. Storage units can be reserved in advance to make sure the size you require is available on the day you need it. You can also easily switch to a smaller or larger unit whilst in storage if required. Self storage is flexible, secure and hassle free, in fact it couldn't be any easier. Our people will help and advise you to ensure that you only rent the space you actually need.


How secure is the storage facility?


We take the security and protection of your goods and possessions extremely seriously. Our facility is a purpose built specialist self storage centre benefiting from extensive electronic security systems, CCTV, remote monitoring, and designed to the latest fire safety regulations. Access to the storage centre is strictly controlled and you are the only one with access to your unit, which is locked with a padlock owned by you.


Why do I need to provide my own padlock?


You need your own padlock to ensure that you are the sole key holder for your unit and to ensure that the unit is securely locked at all times. We stock a full range of high security padlocks.


How much does it cost to store with Chambers Self Storage?


The price you pay is determined by the size of the unit you need. Unlike most storage providers our units are high ceilinged (over 12 ft) so with rental charges calculated based on the unit floor area the extra height means that you can store more in a smaller space to minimise your storage costs.

Our prices start from as little as £5 per week. We will not be beaten on price!

Estimating the size of space you need isn't as simple and straightforward as it looks. It depends on:

• What you need to store and how stackable it is.

• What sort of access you will need in the future as you may want to leave a walkway through the storage unit to get to your possessions.

We can advise you on how to stack your goods and possessions to make maximum use of the space.


What is the minimum rental period?


You can store for as long as you want – minimum two weeks and no maximum rental period.


What is included in the price – are there any hidden extras?


The simple answer is NO!! The price quoted is inclusive of rates, utilities, security and maintenance – there are no additional storage charges. You will need a padlock to secure your unit and your goods will need to be insured whilst they are in storage. A refundable security deposit equal to a calendar month storage charge is payable at the start of the storage period and is refunded when you vacate the unit.


Do you offer any discounts?


We believe that our prices are always competitive but we normally offer a range of additional discounts such as reduced charges for Armed Forces, Emergency Services and NHS personnel (subject to presentation of a valid current ID), reduced charges for OAPs and discounts for pre-paid long term rentals of 6 months and more. Do I pay weekly or monthly?


We’ll invoice you on a monthly basis, payable in advance.


How quickly can I move in?


You can move in on the same day as you make your enquiry provided you have the relevant documentation – photo ID and proof of address (statement or utility bill etc dated within the last 3 months)


How do I pay for storage?


Most of our customers choose to pay by standing order or direct bank transfer. However, we also accept credit and debit cards, payments direct to our bank account via telephone or internet banking or cash.


What about insurance?


Your goods need to be insured whilst in storage. If your own insurance does not cover goods in storage we can provide affordable insurance according to your needs. Please contact us for more details


How often can I have access to my goods?


You can come and go as you please during the storage centre opening hours.


How do I get my goods to you?


You can either bring your goods/belongings to Chambers or, if you don’t want the hassle of hiring and driving a van, ask us for details of local ‘man & van’ firms for cost effective and reliable removal services. Chambers has ample customer car parking and large dedicated loading/unloading areas.


Can I move to another unit if I need more or less storage space?


You can move to another sized unit at any time, depending on your storage requirements and the availability of other sized units in the storage centre.


Do you have trolleys available?


Trolleys and pallet trucks are available free of charge for customers use.


What if I have reserved and my plans are delayed?


That is no problem just let us know about the changes and we will extend your reservation.


How does the Lowest Price Guarantee work?


We believe that our prices are already competitive but guarantee to beat any like-for-like competitor quote presented to us within 28 days of the date of the rental storage contract date moving in by 10% for the first two months and match it thereafter. Click here for 'Discount' details.

Yes, because we are part of the prestigious Chambers Business Centre the site also offers high specification 'network ready' office accommodation, meeting and conference rooms for rental.
